Like the universe itself, the global spectrum of groupthink is so vast and intricate that the human mind simply cannot comprehend its true depth. The world is rich with a diversity so grand that it’s near impossible to grasp in its entirety. Human society, created by a collective consciousness of individuals whose minds are shaped by culture, language, tradition, religion, societal structure, and unique personal experience, is one of the highest and most sophisticated expressions of existence itself.
Humanity’s past has been poisoned by centuries of distorted beliefs from those with true authoritative power. Since the beginning of the construct of institution in it of itself, we have been told what to believe and taught how to think by corrupt design. The doctrine of religion and forces of media tells us which groupthink to identify with, what is right and wrong, what is real and what is fake, who we should be and how we should act. Dare I suggest that the concept of political ideology is all but an illusion of choice?
Associating with any one political ideology limits the mind to one construct of thought. By solely identifying with any particular ideology, we eliminate the possibility of seeing beyond the constructs of the ideology itself. The label of anarchist, socialist, conservative, fascist, liberal etc., acts as a box and limits potential of ideological potential and growth. These labels are embedded with stigmas and stereotypes that are designed to create hostile judgements towards other groups that might think differently. The compartmentalized nature to political ideologies, regardless of sub-ideologies, boxes groups of people together to wire an overall rigid societal system.
Those in political power create and use these instigated hostilities to turn the people against each other. Different schools of thought are made out to be the enemy rather than an opportunity to learn new perspectives, and as a result fear poisons the rational mind. As the saying goes, “united we stand, divided we fall.” With a global population of people divided against one another, those in power have gained monstrous political tract while citizens are left on the sidelines to watch as humanity crumbles to ruins.
Citizens have no real control to the larger religious, financial, and political institutions that control them because society is intentionally not taught to how think beyond what the system wants us to think. Otherwise, we would not have a faulty system to exist in the first place. A political ideology is no exception to the rule. Political ideology takes away from the root of the real issue at hand and allows us to point fingers and blame each other for the faults of a corrupt system.
It is no coincidence that the top 1% owns more wealth and property than an entire nation of people combined. It is no coincidence that the media is owned by an oligopoly of 6 major corporations. It is no coincidence that these corporations have the same legal rights as a person, that our industrialized food system is making us sick, that there are budget cuts to our education. An unconscious, sick, and uneducated population cannot think for itself. Like sheep, we are being led to the slaughterhouse to feed the parasite of political power—all while being promised the glory and success of luxuries we will never be able to actualize.
The dominant political institutions that rule our world is a product of power and greed— an unsatisfiable hunger of the human ego that has grown so disproportionate that we have pushed ourselves to the verge of extinction. In the name of wealth and success, political leaders have led their people astray and blinded them with a mastery of deception. We can see the result of our systematic societal failure in the pollution of our air, our soils, our shores, our forests, our wilderness and our spirits. It is within the power of every man, and every woman, to defy the limits of political ideologies and use the difference in our brilliant minds to come together to construct an entirely new paradigm of political existence.
Although I’ve always tended to identify with a liberal mentality, I’ve come to realize that I have a blend of varying ideologies that compliment my core spiritual beliefs towards politics. As a liberal feminist, socialist, anarchist and revolutionist, I am constantly seeking to expand and grow my outlook on politics and society in the sincerest hopes to better the world we live in. It is not always easy to listen to other perspectives or to see from another point of view, but in my foreign experiences I have gained richness in understanding the depth and power behind diversity of thought. I figure that if I can empower myself to learn different perspectives of other cultures, societies, traditions, religions and ideologies, then the large of humanity has hope to evolve out of a broken system. I am neither surprised nor disappointed in my political outlook. I take pride in having a hippy, millennial, New Age take on politics because thinking differently is the only way to beckon change. As Albert Einstein once said, “you cannot resolve a problem with the same mind that created it.”
